Monday

Today we celebrated the Promise Ceremony in the hall marking the beginning of Lent.  We each made a promise to give up something we enjoy for 40 days.  If you would like to have a look at our promises, they will be up in the classroom on Friday.

After the promise ceremony, we had the Reading Log draw.  Congrats to these lucky winners whose names were drawn.  The prizes were fantastic.  It really does pay to read over the holidays and fill in your Reading Log.  Well done Rory, Andrew and Ama.

After all of that hard work sitting still in the hall, we decided to let of some steam and enjoyed a frolic on the seniors playground...lots of fun.

See you in the morning.

Week 5

Hi everyone.
Week 5 is a really busy week.
A busy time on the Catholic calendar and we also have the school Gala on Thursday afternoon/evening.  I do hope to see you all there, I will be manning the bouncy castle:)

Lent starts this week.  Children will be talking about their Lenten promises in class tomorrow and we will have a ceremony in the hall after lunch to hand in our promises.

Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday...Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Tuesday or Pancake day) is the day that immediately precedes Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent), which is celebrated in some countries by consuming pancakes. It is the last day of "fat eating" or "gorging" before the fasting period of Lent.

On Wednesday we celebrate the beginning of Lent, the Ash Wednesday Liturgy is in St.Mary's Church at 9.00am.  We will receive the ashes on our foreheads.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Thursday is Gala Day.

Friday is the long awaited tug of war between the school houses.  It was postponed due to a longer than normal assembly last Friday.

In addition to all of these exciting events, Michelle and I will be doing the school entry testing.  We will organise a time in Week 6 to meet with each of you to discuss your child as a learner and review their results.

See you all tomorrow for a fun filled, action packed week.

Monday...always a great day

We were lucky enough to have some visitors today...two adorable guinnea pigs. They were a hit with the children. We might even be allowed to have them in the class         permanently. Mrs.Stratham is trying to find us a cage for inside.

We also started our PMP program with Mrs.Kemp. PMP is a programme which aims to develop the child's perceptions and understandings of himself or herself in relation to her/his world, through movement/motor experiences. Find out more at this link...http://movingsmart.co.nz/

If you are able to help out with PMP on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon 1.30pm to 3.00pm, please let me know.

Need to know

Everyone has a reading eggs login in their homework books tonight. Please read the introductory letter and get on there to have a look.  Reading eggs is a fantastic program, funded by Ngati Whakaue.  We are very lucky to have access to this program.  Please make the effort to use it at home.  Ten minutes is ample.

Gymnastics is starting tomorrow lunchtime in the hall.  If you would like your child to go along please let me know...I already have some names.

Thanks
Mrs.H
